By repute, this mantel was removed from the Capitol building in Washington, DC during the 1820 restoration by the Fry family and the family referred to this mantel as the Bulfinch Mantel--held subsequently by another family. Note elaborate carved ovals and dentil carving of the highest order. Out side dimensions: 58" high, 76 3/4" wide, 11" deep.
