Alfred Jones, American (1819-1900)

Watercolor by Alfred Jones of one of his daughters, most likely Imogene. She later married into the Rockwell family and had a daughter, Edna. Until recently, Edna's son lived in Annapolis, Maryland. "A native of Liverpool, England, he earned his living as an engraver. He also did landscape and figure painting as well as original vignette engravings. He emigrated to the United States as a young man and apprenticed in Albany, New York to an engraving firm of Rawdon, Wright, Hatch and Edson. In 1867, he did a series of engravings for "Harper's Weekly" illustrating the activities of the Canadian parliament." (This biography from www.askart.com)
