| This is a water color of one of Alfred Jones' daughters. His eldest was Imogene, then Sarah and finally Ellen. "A native of Liverpool, England, he earned his living as an engraver. He also did landscape and figure painting as well as original vignette engravings. He emigrated to the United States as a young man and apprenticed in Albany, New York to an engraving firm of Rawdon, Wright, Hatch and Edson. In 1867, he did a series of engravings for "Harper's Weekly" illustrating the activities of the Canadian parliament." (The above biography is from www.askart.com) | ||
