Large Post-impressionist landscape of the South of France by this American ex-patriot. Root studied at the Academy of Julian with JP Laurens and B. Constant in the early 1890's. He exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1896, and 1898. He is listed in Fink's Book: "American Artists in the Paris Salons"--this large work bears a Paris canvas imprint so it was likely painted in the late 1890's. Oil on canvas, signed lower right: canvas size: 52 1/4" x 62 1/4"
